Into The Wild

This film has really stuck with us both here. It leaves it's mark. I watched it for the first time a couple of months ago and instantly loved it. Then we both watched it the other night. Right up there on my favourite movie list. I'm listening to Eddie Vedder's soundtrack right now, love that too.... and the film's score by Michael Brook. Emile Hirsch was great in the role of Christopher McCandless, whose life the film is about. Jakki's reading the book his sister wrote about it all too and is gripped by that.

It helps that the film (2007, directed by Sean Penn) is set in part out at Salvation Mountain and Slab City! Love those places. Anyway, i'm not doing a film review, just a nod to say, if you have never seen it, you should. It's a great film, about life and true happiness.

It's quite a ride though!

  1. I remember loving this movie when it came out. Haven't seen it in quite a while, might be worth a revisit. Eddie Vedder's music is amazing on the soundtrack, listen to it all the time!

  2. This film really stuck under my skin when I saw it not long after its release, I continued to think about it almost obsessively for a couple of years afterward.
I also remember not realising it was a true story whilst watching it for the first time, right up until the final moment before the end credits - and having a real 'whoa!/holy shit, it's all true!' moment.

The Jon Krakauer book which inspired the film is also worth reading Scott.

  3. Hey Peter. It's still on my mind, bought the dvd yesterday... for whenever i feel like dipping in. It joins the list of my 'alone time' movies. Top of that being Lost in Translation.
