New Images

I'm just starting to mess about with a new series of images, which stem from this image i made a while back. I'm going to take a selection and work them up as individual pieces... i'm just not sure of the final look i'm after?? Part of me would really like to be disciplined and keep it to two colours, but when ever i start with things like that, i just end up 'colouring' them all in! The previous drawing was titled 'Dead Ends', but I'm changing that to the rather cheerful "How Will I Die Today?". Yep, I've always fancied playing God, so now i get to draw a character and answer their question, with the usual trivial/tragic mix. Maybe i'll get somewhere with it? Maybe i already have and i should just stick with the single print image? I've played around with the colour of this character a bit more than normal to try and help me move away from people being pink or brown!... i know, not much of a drastic move!!

  1. Its beautifully coloured Scott, I really love your palette. I know what you mean about the appeal and the difficulty trying to limit it, and let the drawing alone speak for itself. But hey, we live in a grey world (especially in Feb in the UK) - nowt wrong with brightening stuff up sometimes!

  4. Hey Scott- been reading through your blog..nice pots! I have been quite tempted by the ceramics class at the college but everyone says its a bit slow- I want to be making things like this by my second week http://www.cerealart.com/shopexd.asp?id=489 I guess that wouldn't happen.
    Maybe I'll stick to screenprinting.

  5. Ha! Good to hear from you Andy. Funny, i was just saying to Jakki the other night, that i was going to hunt you down, staying under the radar so well in Hastings!! The college is slow, you'd take two terms to get enough info to think about casting moulds. I'd try and help out if i could, i need to repay the pottery folk's kindness. Welcome aboard! I've been admiring your prints lately.. and realizing i need to step up my game and actually start putting ideas to work.

  6. That poor fellow! Ha. Great look on his face. I love the Dead Ends drawing. It was fab in just the two colors, much like a slipware jug.
