Modern Life

Been waiting for tomorrow all of my life... and now i have yesterday.

I have finally... FINALLY... got myself an iphone and some data useage! my phone is no longer just a phone (and not even one with a camera, recently... the shame) . I was going to say I'm up to date, but I'm never up to date, it's already old technology, but frankly I'm just not that bothered about being cutting edge when it comes to tech. I just need it to function. Hopefully it will help me get more on this blog and keep it going. Be nice to start putting some of my own pics back on here for starters, been a bit dry. Anyway, thought it qualified as a big news day ; ) Now, to go find a log to wrap it in and take it's tech edge away from it!

He knew his days were numbered (but then so are mine... curse you Calendars!)

Catchy Little Ditty

Sadly this is about all i have time to post these days, it's officially VERY BUSY!!! here at Garrettworld. I seldom seem to find myself without a pen or pencil in my hand these days, definitely no clay. I'm going to have to give that some undivided attention later in the year, also need to stock up, i'm out of clay. I'm also going to convert my kiln from the kiln sitter to digital, i've had enough, i need more control and to get it sorted once and for all. Anyway, go be freaked out by Chad VanGaalen!

Swearing At Motorists

Great name, great band! A brilliant rock duo. Dave Doughman is an amazing frontman/showman, infectious energy! Some of my favourite gigs have been by these guys, the best ones were also joint gigs with Scout Niblett (Duke of Anxiety, performed here, is a Swearing at Motorist track), one at the Buffalo Bar in Islington stands out. I don't get to so many gigs these days, not since becoming a Dad and moving out of London and down to Hastings... however, I am of out to one tomorrow night. Local band (but much more than just that!) Admiral Sir Cloudesley Shovell will be rocking it at the Tubman. I'm going with my mate Mark and he'll be talking about permaculture, Jack Spirko and 'every citizen a sentinel'! We shall have a fine time, drink some beers (too many... or should that be 'enough') and hear the great sounds of the Shovell!! Looking forward to it, i shall feel hairily at home! It'll certainly blow any cobwebs away : 0

Marquese Scott

Incredible what a human body can do. I've seen this guy before via Robin Wood's splendid blog and i was just reminded by this clip over on Lloyd Kahn's blog, if you haven't already go check them out. I can now also heartily recommend the Root Simple one too.  i've had a good look around the various sections of the website and there's lots of interesting stuff by Mr & Mrs Homegrown aka Erik Knutzen and Kelly Coyne. Now there's a diverse blog post for you : )

Windows Wall

Very nice little film about two makers and their rather lovely cabin with a wall of windows (nice tin-type photography too).

Backyard Farming in LA

Interesting and useful. Obviously not me! I was watching a few of these films last night and thought I'd share this one with you guys. There is also their website Root Simple, which looks like it has lots of interesting stuff on it. Our neighbours have had scaffolding up for a couple of weeks now, which has blocked out our Sky TV signal, so no TV... which i was down with from the start, i'm only going to need it when the Football season kicks in... i need Match Of The Day, if only for the comfort that the theme tune brings to most men! I recommend subscribing to Kirsten Dirkesen's you tube channel, so many cool and interesting films, better than any channel on TV. Now i really should start growing stuff (well, other than herbs and the fruit trees i do nothing to!). I've no idea why i do so little of this stuff i watch and deeply approve of... like i said, NOT USEFUL!

Time Flies...

When you're working hard! I have things to blog, but never the time, or being at my screen to do so. I seem to have a lot of new folks checking this blog out... and now no new content! I have a really interesting potential project floating around and just so many deadlines coming at me from all angles... i need a PA! i'm not kidding!! i'm certainly not moaning though, i like to be kept on my toes, but i also really like to blog stuff. Texas told me earlier that i have a really easy job, "you just, you know, sit there and draw stuff... it's really easy". I couldn't disagree with that! but I told him the hard bit was when everyone wanted the easy drawing bit all at once (and sooner than it takes to do it) and having to deal with all the other issues of money/ contracts etc.... i think his eyes started to glaze over at the words 'hard bit..." : )  I did get him to draw me a "posh guy" that i was going to need to draw and i just might be 'borrowing' his inspired take. Now if I can only get Tennessee to be my PA..... on second thoughts...
