Pottery Update...

A couple of pics of recent activity, nothing mind-blowing. Really a reminder that i do occasionally get clay on my hands! I wanted to make a fairly 'loose' salt & pepper pot pair, keep a bit of energy in them and try a different way from the holes in the top (although I'm sure there's good reason for that, Time's a good designer!). The phone snaps are pretty low quality, but hope they serve their purpose. There are more of the heads at the bottom, i'm just keen to see how they come out. Last bit of news is that my small kiln will hopefully be fired for the first time at the weekend and then i can start my proper journey from there on. It's been a frustrating time for me, but hopefully things will get back on track now. I'm still not a potter, but getting nearer... inch by painfully slow inch!

  2. Hey Tracey... you know what I mean... until they're fired they're not 'pottery' just clay, so I can't be a potter. Just want to say feel free to crop that print to fit a frame, there's ample space and you wouldn't want to see any white border.... but you were already going to do that! There will be more pottery posts from next week on i promise.

  4. Those are great! Did you go with holes in the bottom for a stopper for filling?
The heads are fun too. Yay for Clay.

  5. Hey Ron, i put the holes at the bottom of the back, i'm thinking of a little tapered wooden plug, or a small cork if i can find one. I have one bigger hole also, at on the top of the salt at the back for faster/more generous pour. At least that's the theory! ...it's all experimentation/learning.

  6. I really like your pots, clay forms and all the other creative projects you've got going on. The prints are calling my name, I think. And I'm having a good read starting from early entries here. Your blog is amazing in its variety and looseness and now I'm going to go have a good re-think about what my own new baby of a blog is meant to be. Cheers!

  7. Hi Peggy, thanks for such nice words. I'm always re-thinking what my blog should be.. i often wish it could be a little more open and personal, but at the moment this seems to be about the right balance. I have a lot to thank potters blogs for, most illustration blogs only go so far. I shall be following your progress, good luck with yours!
